New function of the Student App
Talk Time

What is “Talk Time”?

Talk Time is a new function of the student app that allows children to enjoy practicing talking with their favorite character, Jonny Bear. Jonny Bear is equipped with artificial intelligence (AI), and he talks and asks many questions using words and expressions that are appropriate for children. Talk Time provides great opportunities for children to practice conversations, and it will help them develop their speaking skills and build confidence.

Talk Time Features

  • A special feature that is included only in the student app
    playlists.
  • It has a response program to handle a variety of children’s
    response.
  • Practice is at a natural and comfortable pace.
  • Conversation topics are based on what children have learned in
    GrapeSEED.
  • It uses only acquired words, expressions, and language
    features appropriate to children's level of comprehension.
  • If children have trouble answering a question, Jonny Bear will give them hints on how to answer or repeat the question.
  • Children can skip conversations when they don't have time.

How to use Talk Time

  • Talk Time is available in GrapeSEED’s Unit 1 to Unit 40
    playlists and two types of conversations are provided for each unit. Please note that Talk Time will not necessarily appear in all the playlists.
  • The first conversation will appear randomly at some point between the 3rd to 7th playlist.
  • Even if you have already studied the 7th playlist or later playlists at the time Talk Time was released, they will eventually appear in subsequent playlists.
  • Once you have talked with Jonny Bear, a Jonny Bear icon will appear in the upper right corner of the screen, and you will be able to try the conversation again.

    Talk Time
  • If you repeat the same conversation via the Jonny Bear icon five times, the conversation will disappear, but will continue to appear randomly among the playlists.
  • It will not appear in the app library mode.
  • Talk Time is not available in LittleSEED.
  • A Wi-Fi connection or mobile data connection is
    required.
  • Talk Time will not be displayed when the app is offline.
  • A device with a microphone is required to talk with
    Jonny Bear.
